Rod Shingu
"…the hospital is a successor to my donor advised fund"
Rod Shingu feels comfortable in the hospital environment. He worked as a senior administrator at Los Angeles County + University of Southern California Medical Center prior to retirement, and has subsequently volunteered at Huntington Hospital for many years. In addition to his volunteer contributions and consistent annual support, Rod has chosen to support the hospital by naming us as a successor to a donor-advised fund, through two charitable gift annuities and by including us in his estate plan. Rod is helping to improve the health and well-being of our entire community, while also creating a lasting legacy.
Rod is impressed by Huntington Hospital's commitment to the highest level
of care. He and other members of his family have received lifesaving care
here - care he describes as "just incredible." Caregivers' "expressions of
concern and care...kept my spirits and my hopes high" during a difficult
time, he notes. After retirement, "Once you've travelled and done the other
things you wanted, you still have a desire to do something good. For me,
that meant participating and contributing to Huntington Hospital."
