Mike Horner

Mike Horner

Over the years, Michael Horner has experienced Huntington Hospital's high-quality care firsthand as a patient. "It's comforting to know there are wonderful people there to care for you," says Mike. "The care and consideration I've received has been remarkable."

In gratitude for care received, Mike provides generous support to Huntington Hospital - a tradition he and his late wife Sally began many years ago. Their philanthropy has included the creation of two gift annuities here. "They were very simple to set up," says Mike, "and they provide a nice yield and good tax benefits, while also benefiting the hospital. They just make a lot of sense."

Originally from Pittsburgh, the Horners created deep roots in their Pasadena community. In 1973, the couple became owners of Tom Sawyer Camps, a well-known and well-loved Pasadena institution that provides summer and after-school camping experiences for children. Today, Mike remains involved in the organization's operations.

He hopes others will be inspired to put Huntington Hospital at the top of their giving list, as he and Sally decided to do. "The hospital is one of Pasadena's great institutions," he says, "and merits significant support from the citizens of Pasadena."
